The origins of yoga are in India. The Indian sage Patanjali created for Christ's birth mnemonics on the content of the exercises. The so-called Eightfold Path forms the basis of yoga. These include:
* Five simple rules of conduct and five difficult
* Various exercises
* Breathing exercises
* Averting the attention of sensory perception
* Concentration exercises
* Concentrated sinking
* Mystical union with the spiritual center of all existence
As of 12 Century, developed various types of yoga with a different focus. Two examples are hatha yoga, which focuses primarily physical exercises in the foreground. Ashtanga Yoga is a form of hatha yoga, with more challenging exercises which are carried out synchronously with respiration. America derived from variants such as the power yoga are now widely used in Germany. With the original yoga these exercises but do not have much in common.
