Acupuncture (from Latin acus = needle, pierce pungere =) is an ancient method of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). By using thin needles inserted into the body to heal with her disease, relieve pain or well-being are enhanced.

The insertion points are in acupuncture throughout the body called meridians, or distributed in energy pathways, in which the body's energy, the qi flows. The different acupuncture points have been determined on the basis of old experiences.

Although the language and explain the mechanisms of acupuncture to the Western (natural) scientifically educated people at first appear strange and outdated, you can see in this old knowledge, if the concepts are translated modern, the latest findings and insights of medical research. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has published a list of indications about 100 complaints images that are suitable for acupuncture treatments. Especially in pain and addiction treatment, the needles are also used by Western medicine.

For different applications, different types of needles of different materials and different thicknesses and lengths. In general, needles made from stainless steel as a disposable needles - and more historically and today only very rarely made of silver or gold - is used. Silver or gold needles are used primarily in acupuncture of the ear. The length of the needles varies between 1.5 and 7 centimeters. The short needles are used primarily in the facial area, the long muscle in the treatment of deeper lines.

In addition to the modern acupuncture needle acupuncture and laser or electro-acupuncture be used, in this case the points are not stimulated by movement of the needles, but by electrical or laser energy.
